There are few movies I'll watch, fewer still that I'll watch twice, and even fewer that I'll rummage through a Walgreen's/Wal-Mart/Kroger movie bin looking for a copy.
The Princess Bride is one of the rare movies that I've seen, watched more than once, and rummaged through all sorts of places to find a copy. So smart. So good. So quotable.
Inconceivable.
Why is that?
Was it the sweetness of the story? The great one-liners and the way each character offered surprises to the twisting storyline? Or is it that we also want to believe in a world where Good triumphs, true love wins the day, and that the simple & meek are counted as wise?
Could be any of that.
As the end of a four-year election cycle comes to a close, the news outlets spit forth wearying tripe between short blips of real news, and hope is too easily lost, I need a break.
So this afternoon, Baxter, the dog, and I will curl up in the Sunday cool for a few hours of restorative storytelling and one-liners.
And now with the big rain…it looks like I will not be hiking Elachee trails.
So maybe there will be time for a little Inception, too.

Let’s use that last line in your wedding.
One of the best movies of all time! “Anybody want a peanut?”
Seth – that would be a scream & only you could pull it off!
I’ve never seen it. And it just became a “must watch.” Thank you for this… 🙂
