I have something on my mind.

A little hope.

A little joy.

An old sadness.

Fresh water.

Great kids.

Loving friends.

Purpose.

Wonder.

Rest.

Anger.

Bitterness.

Fear and fright.

Flickering life.

Foreboding.

Truth.

Lies.

Indignation.

Coffee.

Prayerfulness.

I am a missionary.  Imperfect.

Complete and yet unfinished – sometimes woefully unfinished.

I am a revolutionary.

A hermit.

A semi-retired social butterfly.

Patron of the local arts.

Pet-ter of small grranimals.

I've held a chimpanzee and gone nose to nose with a baby snow leopard.

Fierce.

Frail.

Water that spills over a dry bed.

Undone.

Undoing.

Redeemed.

Restored.

Recycled.

In process.

Join me.

We've got a world on our hands that needs real love.

Neighbors who feel the sting of abandonement and lonely days.

Kids that giggle under the windows
and test drive words that make us blush like "hungry", "scared," and "all alone".

Tears that should not be.

Friends in high places.

A blank canvas of opportunity.

Musical notes waiting to assemble.

No grand scheme is needed.

One step.

Then another.

Another.

Together.

One falls and if lucky, another is nearby to bear him up.

Tears mingle with sweat and the sound of prayerful voices raised in hopeful songs.

We are community.

World changers while their world was still very young.

Or we are alone – a single spark in the shadowlands.

What is in your heart – your gift to a wide wide world

of strangers and foreigners

and friends in waiting?

Take my hand.

  1. Allie…thank you! These words (well, all of them except the part about going toe to toe with a snow leopard) could have been poured out of my own soul today. “No grand scheme is needed. One step. Then another.”

God is answering my prayer for direction through you. I know what my first step needs to be…now I just need to take it!

    Thank you for sharing this!!!

    Man, I miss you!
